Absolutely no disrespect to the Pope, but I did wonder what Queen Elizabeth thought when she heard the news… I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something along these lines!
Seriously guys… he didn’t resign (which is different then retiring) just because he was old and didn’t feel like being Pope anymore. He put at least a few years of prayer into making this decision… and he isn’t doing it for himself. He’s doing it because he feels that is what is best for the Church right now. Yeah Queen Elizabeth is the head of the church of England and she isn’t stepping down…. well, then clearly she feels she is capable of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had more class to look at the Pope’s resignation with sympathy and understanding, than to roll her eyes and go “Oh well that’s cute. Look at me, I’m old too.”
